What To Wear To A Concert - For Chicks

When I go to shows a lot of the time I see girls wearing the most ridiculous outfits (ie: fairy costumes at My Chemical Romance. Seriously. They were leaning against the wall, chewing gum, wearing god damn fairy wings and a pink halo. Why?!).
So, I thought I'd give a What To Wear and a What Not To Wear on concerts (assuming there's going to be moshing)!

So when going to a concert, you don't want to dress up like you're seeing the Queen, but you don't want to be completely unoriginal, either.
Here are some of my tips for what to wear in a mosh, plus an example of what to wear (and what not to wear!).

So let's look at shoes first.
Converse, Converse, Converse. Or sneakers.
If you wear high heels in a mosh pit, then you are an idiot - a dangerous idiot. You'll hurt yourself and others. Just don't do it.
Ballet slippers are not good either. While you won't hurt others, you'll hurt yourself, and probably ruin the shoes.
Aim for a pair of shoes with laces that can be done up well so they won't fall off, and that will protect your feet - if you're in a mosh, they will almost definately get stood on.

Now for tops.
I have nothing at all against wearing a band's shirt to their show. Some people do, but they're elitist snobs, don't listen to them. Wear your shirt because you like the band and because you want to, not to "prove you're a fan" or something - you're at the band's show, of course you're a fan.
Wear another band's shirt if you want - just be considerate (ie: please don't wear an MCR shirt to a Used show, Bert will try and eat your brain if he sees you, and please do not, under any circumstances, wear something like a Britney Spears or Fall Out Boy shirt to a Slayer concert. You will get beaten up.).
Wear a shirt that is comfortable and won't get ruined easily. DO NOT EVER, EVER WEAR A TUBE TOP. EVER. It will fall down in the mosh and people will see your boobs. Seriously. Don't do it.

You will also need to take a jacket for while you're waiting outside (you won't need it inside). Not something too heavy, though - a hoodie is practical because it won't weigh you down and you can take it off easily.

There is no need to wear "spray-on pants" to a concert. Of course, skinny leg jeans are practical, because if you want to keep stuff in your pockets, their pockets are usually deep and will be safe. Plus, you won't have to worry about you or anyone else tripping over your super long pants. Please do not wear a skirt! It'll probably ride up. And if you do, wear coloured stockings or leggings underneath.
Shorts are also good for a show if the weather is super hot.

Accessories-wise, take your glasses off! Wear contacts, because your glasses might break. Do not wear big earrings, aim for studs or sleepers, because these won't get ripped out of your ear easily (ouch).
Any jewellery that you can't replace shouldn't be worn. Neither should expensive diamonds, so cut back on the bling.
Do not take a really expensive camera, unless, of course, you've got a photo pass beforehand. Most big places don't allow cameras, and yours might get confiscated (cough, put it in your bra in case they check, cough). If there's a metal detector, you are completely screwed and can probably kiss your beloved camera goodbye.
Also, cameras can be damaged in the mosh. I usually just use my phone to take pictures, because, although it could also get wrecked, I need it with me anyway.

Hair and make-up:
Do not pile on the make-up! You'll just sweat it off, and running mascara and eyeliner is not a good look.
If you want to wear make-up, invest in some waterproof make-up, and try to only wear a tinted moisturizer, eyeliner, and chapstick.
If you have really long hair, tie it up, because 1) People don't want to have your hair in their face, 2) You do not want your hair in other people's mouths, and 3) It'll get really tangled if you don't.
Also, too much hairspray and teased hair is gross, so for the love of Bob, don't do it.

Other tips:
-Do not scream out "SLAAAAYYYEEERRR!" at a metal concert, unless you want people to go nuts and trample you.
-If someone falls, don't be a jerk, and try to help them up. Mosh pit karma works, and you might need to be helped up by them later.
-The safest areas of a mosh are at the back, front, and sides. If you get stuck in the middle, don't panic, just try to get out quickly (ask people for help if you need it).
-Do not mess with the security. They are big and strong and jerks. Pete Wentz once got into a fight with them, and it was funny. If they get into a fight with you, it won't be.
-Stay awayyy from big, stupid looking dudes. If a person near you has a bitch to you that someone hit them, stay away from that someone - they're most likely gonna hit you as well.
-Have fun. It's not that big of a deal. You make a surprising lot of friends with people if you're pushed up against them! Plus, you're both there to see the band and have a good time.

Okay, this is an idea of what you could wear.

...And what you shouldn't wear.

And another thing! I was planning to wear my Britney Spears T-Shirt to a Slayer concert.

Oh wait... I don't have a Britney Spears top. And I haven't even heard a Slayer song. Oops.
